You Already Have Videos. How Can You Get More from Them?
A video originally produced for social media can be a starting point for further uses. On 1 October 2026, Google published an Ads Decoded episode about YouTube and Demand Gen creative, focusing on existing assets and gradual testing.
What the update highlights
Google recommends starting with existing assets if they meet the channel’s specifications. It also presents Asset Studio video creation from websites and photographs. For testing, it emphasises the quality of new creative and sufficient time to assess results.
The same footage needs different edits
Our practical recommendation is to treat each video as source material. A product presentation can become a short vertical clip, a longer explanation and an ad answering a particular question. Each version needs its own opening and clear purpose.
Review framing, aspect ratio, subtitles and safe areas for key elements. Make sure music, people and other material have the necessary advertising rights. Permission to use a sound within one platform does not automatically cover every other channel.
Test a specific question
Instead of changing visuals, messaging and targeting simultaneously, test two openings or two ways of communicating the same benefit. Evaluate results against the campaign objective and visitors’ actions.
Start with an inventory: which videos do you have, which remain relevant and which service or product do you want to support? At Promoters, we can plan the versions you need and connect them with a focused distribution strategy.
