Electronic invoicing brings changes to tools and workflows. For business owners, that means adjustment time and coordination with their accountant. AADE’s announcement of revised deadlines on 30 September 2026 is an opportunity to plan that transition.
What AADE announced
For second-period businesses with gross revenue up to €1 million, based on the tax year starting within 2023, mandatory implementation starts on 2 November 2026. The gradual implementation period runs until 31 January 2027.
The announcement also moves the relevant phase-two digital inventory movement procedures to 1 January 2027. Its full text covers separate obligations and special cases. Confirm with your accountant which requirements apply to your business.
The change can leave something useful behind
As you review invoice issuance, examine the steps preceding it. Where is an order recorded? Who updates customer details? How is payment matched to the invoice? Where do you find an outstanding item?
Compliance alone does not organise the entire business. It can become a starting point for fewer duplicate entries and clearer ownership at each step if suitable tools and processes are chosen.
Start with your current workflow
Map one actual order from receipt to payment. Identify copied information and recurring errors. Discuss with your accountant and software provider how functions can connect while preserving accuracy.
