Can Your Online Store Answer Your Next Customer’s Questions?
A visitor finds a product they like. Before buying, they want to know whether it fits their needs, when it will arrive and how returns work. Missing answers make the decision harder, even when the photography is excellent.
The news behind the question
On 16 September 2026, Google announced AI-assisted shopping updates. New Merchant Center AI performance insights cover Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand and the US. The Business Agent beta within YouTube ads is US-only. The announcement also emphasises product data quality.
Greece is not included in those availability lists. However, businesses can already improve the information their online visitors use. Clear information supports everyday purchasing decisions, regardless of when additional features arrive.
Write for the customer’s decision
“Excellent quality” does not explain materials, dimensions or intended use. Clothing needs measurements and care instructions. Food needs ingredients, quantity and storage information. Other products may need dimensions, compatibility details or usage limitations.
Use the questions customers ask by phone and message. If they repeatedly ask whether something fits a space or suits a particular purpose, put the answer on the product page. Use verifiable information and avoid unsupported claims.
Make purchasing terms clear
Explain availability, dispatch times, delivery charges and payment methods. Describe the returns process and applicable terms. If products have several sizes or packaging options, provide accurate information for each variant.
Check that prices and availability match between your store and the product feeds sent to advertising platforms. A mismatch creates disappointment at precisely the moment someone is ready to buy.
Help systems understand the product too
Organise titles, categories and attributes consistently. Use appropriate structured data where supported and ensure important information appears as readable text. Add descriptive alternative text to meaningful images.
These changes do not guarantee inclusion in AI answers or increased sales. They give customers and systems a clearer basis for understanding your offer.
A check you can do today
Choose five important products. Open each page on mobile and ask: what am I buying, what is it suitable for, which option do I need, what is the total cost and when will I receive it? Note every answer that requires a phone call.
